Ma' REBEL BARS (2 ways)

I was out of town when my bakery class demo this but  had a copy of this recipe from my classmate. This recipe has two ways in baking, one using chocolate chips and the other by using a cocoa powder which is more cheaper than the first one.  Just recently I tried the cocoa recipe but share with you how they differ.

A.USING CHOCOLATE CHIPS

Ingredients

1

  • 3 cups quick cooking oats
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

2

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 3

  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

  • B.COCOA POWDER

Ingredients

1

3 cup quick cooking oats
2 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon  baking soda
1 teaspoon salt

2

1 cup butter
2 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoon vanilla extract

3

1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup cocoa (MUST BE DARK COCOA)
2 teaspoon butter

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Procedure
Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

In a large bowl, beat together butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Mix in eggs and vanilla. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, baking soda, and salt; stir into butter mixture.

In a medium saucepan, heat sweetened condensed milk and cocoa or chocolate chips over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in 2 tbsp. butter, walnuts and 2 teaspoons vanilla.

Pat 3/4 of the oat mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. Spread chocolate mixture evenly and crumble the remaining oat mixture over the top. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in preheated oven. Let cool on a wire rack, then cut into bars.

Enjoy and share ;-)
